Simulation Model of a Pasta Production Line
#Verification of Line Design Feasibility #Food Manufacturing #Batch Process (Liquid/Powder) #Waste Loss

Model Overview
- Production Line Characteristics
This is a product-mix production line that manufactures the following four types:
pasta (500g per bag) – 2 varieties
Macaroni (120g per bag) – 2 varieties
Constraints for Production Orders:
Pasta (500g per bag): Minimum lot size is 100kg, meaning production occurs in 100kg units.
One order produces 90kg (500g × 180 bags).
Macaroni (120g per bag): Minimum lot size is 60kg, meaning production occurs in 60kg units.
One order produces 54kg (120g × 450 bags).
Production Loss:
Pasta (500g per bag): Each order results in a loss of 10kg (100kg – 90kg).
Assumed losses: 9kg during dough preparation and 1kg during cutting.
Macaroni (120g per bag): Each order results in a loss of 6kg (60kg – 54kg).
Assumed losses: 5.4kg during dough preparation and 0.6kg during cutting.
Daily Production (Two Shifts):
Pasta (500g per bag): 1,800 bags (approx. 1 ton)
Macaroni (120g per bag): 4,500 bags (600kg)
- Key Points
This simulation model was created to verify whether the production line design can meet daily targets, including setup time.
Modeling Screen

This modeling was created using GD.findi MS.
It is a no-code production simulator that performs production simulations in a digital virtual space, providing powerful support for line design and process design.
Applicable Industries/Line Configurations

- Food manufacturing
- Batch process production line handling liquids and powders for mixing, heating, cooling, processing, and packaging
