Simulation Model for Automotive Tire Manufacturing
#Verification of Line Design Feasibility #Tire Manufacturing #Intermediate and Semi-Finished Products

Model Overview
- Production Line Characteristics
- This is a tire production plant manufacturing four types of tires (Tire 1, Tire 2, Tire 3, Tire 4).
- The targeted manufacturing processes are: Material Preparation → Tire Building → Vulcanization (Note: Mixing and inspection processes are excluded from this simulation.)
- Equipment Layout and Appropriate WIP:
Adjust the number of machines according to capacity differences between processes to balance production capability. Ensure that the bottleneck process (vulcanization) operates at maximum utilization by properly placing WIP of green tires.
- Material Preparation:
Produce two types of each material required for tire manufacturing: Tread 1, Sidewall 1, Ply 1, Belt 1, Bead 1, Liner 1, Chafer 1 Tread 2, Sidewall 2, Ply 2, Belt 2, Bead 2, Liner 2, Chafer 2
- Materials are shipped as rolls and supplied to the tire building machines in roll form. (In this model, one roll can produce 20 green tires.)
- Material Composition for Each Tire Type:
Tire 1: {Tread 1, Sidewall 1, Ply 1, Belt 1, Bead 1, Liner 1, Chafer 1} Tire 2: {Tread 2, Sidewall 1, Ply 1, Belt 2, Bead 1, Liner 1, Chafer 1} Tire 3: {Tread 1, Sidewall 1, Ply 2, Belt 2, Bead 2, Liner 1, Chafer 2} Tire 4: {Tread 2, Sidewall 2, Ply 2, Belt 2, Bead 2, Liner 2, Chafer 2}
- Key Points
This simulation model was created to verify whether the production line design can meet daily targets, including setup time.
Modeling Screen

This modeling was created using GD.findi MS.
It is a no-code production simulator that performs production simulations in a digital virtual space, providing powerful support for line design and process design.
Applicable Industries/Line Configurations

- Tire manufacturing
- Job-shop type production line with significant capacity differences between processes
